I'm open to a number of different types of arrangements, but I usually suggest at least weekly tutoring as in my experience it results in the best reinforcement of the target concepts. Tutoring is done exclusively online using a combination of a video-conferencing platform and a digital whiteboard. Appointments run for at least one hour but can be longer depending on scheduling.

I offer biology, chemistry, and algebra tutoring for middle school, high school, and college level students. I'm comfortable teaching all types of biology and chemistry through the high school level, but if the student is in college we would need to discuss what classes they want tutoring for. I can tutor college introductory chemistry and biology, but anything beyond that would necessitate a conversation.

Styles of Tutoring Offered

Tutoring can focus on strengthening and maintaining concepts learned in the classroom, solving practice problems, help with homework, or more conversational lectures on topics not taught in the classroom. I am a published author in biology and have experience aiding students with data analysis and scientific writing, so I'm also happy to look over a student's lab reports and give constructive feedback during an appointment.

Most commonly, students and their parents seek tutoring when the student is struggling in a class; however, there are a number of other great reasons to enroll a student in tutoring. For instance, tutoring can enable the student to take a course at a accelerated pace. In the past I have tutored students through accelerated summer AP Chemistry courses. I'm also happy to take on students who are not in a given course but would like to learn more advanced material in a subject. For example, I could make accommodations for a student that has taken a high school level biology class but wants to learn more about evolutionary theory or molecular biology.
